Take part in the Beaver Garden Tour that supports Beaver Area Memorial Library

BEAVER – Get a close-up look at five pretty gardens at a Friends of The Beaver Area Memorial Library fundraiser on June 24.

The group's 32nd annual garden tour, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., follows the theme of “Garden Scents.” Both flower and vegetable gardens will be featured.

This self-guided tour will feature five gardens in downtown Beaver. Those who enjoy long walks may decide to make it a walking tour. The cost of the ticket for the garden tour is $15 the day of the tour, or $12 if purchased in advance. Cookies and punch will be served at the library during tour hours.

Vendors stationed at the library will sell their garden creations and other unique art. Rachel Cocain, for instance, will sell her glass art again this year, and Intentionally Blankenship will feature a variety of items.

Donna and Buck Doutt, 841 Fifth St.

The Doutts’ garden focuses on supporting our environment by creating a Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. Their emphasis is on providing flowers, foliage, water, shelter and spaces for bees, butterflies and birds. A lavender-lined walkway welcomes you to their backyard abounding in wildflowers, perennials, colorful annuals, sunny and shady spaces as well as their vegetable garden.

Carey McDougall 445 Dravo Ave.

McDougall owes all of her gardening skills to her parents’ love of plants. The majority of the hostas and daylilies have been transplanted from their home in Connecticut to here. This house feels like it has a great legacy with the Tarquinios having lived here for so long and the giant maple tree in the backyard.

Rebecca Hetzell and Scott Robinsky 240 E. End Ave.

Started with a blank slate during the spring of 2022, this garden's primary focus is vegetables that help decorate a backyard oasis.

Elizabeth Henderson 195-1 Buffalo St.

The front yard a showstopper; the backyard is equally impressive. This property is a registered certified wildlife habitat. Henderson has three raised containers/bed where she mostly grows vegetables like lettuce, peppers and cherry tomatoes.
