Part of I-84/380 closing at night this weekend

Jul. 27—The twin bridges replacement project will mean closing part of Interstate 84 east and Interstate 380 south on Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

The interstates will close at 8 p.m. Saturday between Dunmore and Mount Cobb so contractors can set steel girders for a new Route 435 south exit ramp over I-84. They will reopen Sunday morning at 6, according to a state Department of Transportation news release. The same closure will happen Aug. 5.

The detour from I-81 north and south or the Casey Highway (Route 6) will be to take the Casey to exit 3, Jessup. From there, turn right onto Route 247 and drive to the to I-84 entrance ramp and follow detour signs to I-380 south.

The twin bridges replacement project, which began two years ago, entails replacing two I-84 bridges 1,100 feet long over Roaring Brook and railroad tracks and building the new Route 435 exit ramp over the interstate. The $119.8 million job is expected to take until 2026 to complete.
