Park View man arrested for first degree murder after vehicle accident

UPDATE: March 15, 2024, 10:56 a.m. — The victim from yesterday’s homicide is Taylor Escontrias (McKee), a 31-year-old woman from Park View, Iowa, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

A Park View, Iowa man has been arrested on first-degree murder charges after a vehicle accident near the Mount Joy Airport, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident with injury near the intersection of 90th Street (210th Street) and Harrison Street in Mt. Joy on Thursday, March 14, near the entrance to the Mt. Joy Airport. The vehicle’s driver was identified as Christopher Behal of Park View.

During the investigation of the accident, information led to deputies finding the body of a deceased female in Park View, the release said. Behal was taken to Genesis East Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was then taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Scott County Jail for Murder in the first degree and outstanding warrants. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is currently available. Behal is in the Scott County Jail awaiting an initial court hearing.
