Park Ridge police, DEA aid in arrest of Wheeling man on gun, drug charges

With assistance from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and police departments in the area, the Park Ridge Police Department led an investigation into and arrest of a Wheeling man who was charged with machine gun, cannabis, amphetamine, cocaine and other charges, according to police.

Andy Bardesi Mozo, 24, of the 0-100 block of Buckboard Drive, Wheeling, was arrested on May 10 at approximately 10 a.m., according to Park Ridge police. They said a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force executed a search warrant at Bardesi Mozo’s residence, and Bardesi Mozo attempted to flee on foot with a backpack and was apprehended a short distance later. Law enforcement seized two guns, one classified as a machine gun, and a large amount of cash and narcotics during the search.

Park Ridge police said the search was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation with assistance from the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team and the Wheeling Police Department. The DEA Chicago Field Division assisted in the investigation, according to Public Information Officer Luis Agostini.

Park Ridge Police Department Executive Officer Tom Gadomski told Pioneer Press that the Park Ridge Police Department obtained the search warrant and filed the charges.

The Cook County State’s Attorney approved eight felony charges against Bardesi Mozo:

  • Unlawful use of a weapon, a Class X felony.

  • Armed violence, category 1, a Class X felony.

  • Manufacture/Delivery of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, a Class X felony.

  • Manufacture/Delivery between 100 and 400 grams of cocaine, a Class X felony.

  • Manufacture/Delivery of more than 200 grams of amphetamine, a class X felony.

  • Manufacture between 15 and 100 grams of ecstasy, a Class X felony.

  • Unlawful possession of and manufacture/delivery of more than 200 Schedule I and II drugs, a Class X felony.

  • Manufacture/Delivery between 1 and 15 grams of fentanyl, a Class 1 felony.

Cook County Circuit Court Associate Judge William N. Fahy approved the Cook County State’s Attorney’s petition to keep Bardesi Mozo in custody, per court records. Bardesi Mozo’s next hearing is on June 6 at the Skokie Courthouse. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
