BAKERFSIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A park dedicated to labor rights icon, Larry Itliong is now open in Delano.

Larry Itliong dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of Filipino-American farmers in the 1960s. Itliong worked together with Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta during the famous grape strike of 1965.

On Saturday, 47 years after his death, the City of Delano paid tribute to the pioneer with the opening of Larry Itliong Unity Park.

Located on 11th Avenue in Delano, the park consists of 4 acres and includes playground equipment, an aquatic center and an amphitheater.
