How the Paris train heroes became movie stars
The heroes of the 2015 terrorist train attack in France — Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, and Alek Skarlatos — visited The View and described how a chance meeting with Clint Eastwood at an awards show turned their story into a movie, The 15:17 to Paris.
The group was at the show accepting an award, and Eastwood asked to see them. Skarlatos said, “We all went back to the greenroom, kinda jokingly said, ‘You should do our book into a movie,’ and didn’t really mean it. He was like, ‘Oh, yeah, sure. Send me a book.’”
Stone joked, “It was the weakest sales pitch ever.”
To their surprise, Eastwood contacted them about making the movie, and just three weeks prior to shooting, he asked them to be the stars of the film. So the real-life heroes will get to be movie heroes by working with one of Hollywood’s most legendary filmmakers.
