A woman has been arrested for wearing a ballistic vest and carrying a gun on school property in Hendersonville.

Officers responded to Lakeside Park Elementary at about 10:25 a.m. Friday after reports came in to the Sheriff's Office about the woman, who was spotted outside the school, according to a news release from Hendersonville Police.

At first, the officers couldn't find anyone outside, but a school administrator identified the woman as Kerrie Foster - a parent of a student at the elementary school - and directed officers to the classroom, where Foster was found, the release said.

Foster was removed from the classroom, and police verified that she was wearing a ballistic vest under her clothes. They also found a handgun on her, according to the release.

She was arrested and taken to the Sumner County Jail. A later release from Hendersonville Police listed her bond at $10,000.

Foster faces charges of carrying a weapon on school property and commission of certain offenses while wearing a body vest.

Her court date is scheduled for Jan. 26, 2022.
