Mar. 21—ANDERSON — The Paramount Theatre is planning to host a youth theater camp June 17-28 for children ages 10 to 18 wanting to explore an interest in theater.

"We want take kids who have an interest in theater as a discipline but we also want to improve their self-confidence, we want to help with their listening skills, teamwork skills...and to unlock some creativity," said Rich Jorn, executive director of the Paramount Theatre.

"Even if kids don't necessarily want to go on to become Broadway actors, there's still something for them to gain from this."

The two-week-long day camp costs $150 per student until May, after which it will be $175 per student.

The first half of each day will consist of classes in which students will learn about improv, creating a role and singing.

The second half will involve rehearsing for the Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. production which the students will perform on June 28. The performance will be free to the public.

Those in the play will be singing and dancing along to various Schoolhouse Rock songs, including "Conjunction Junction," "Just a Bill" and "Elbow Room."
