A Para Transpo driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a "vulnerable" passenger, Ottawa police say.

The alleged assault occurred Jan. 23, when the driver was transporting a single passenger, police said in a media release Wednesday.

He then drove away from the woman's usual route, parked his vehicle and sexually assaulted her, police allege.

The incident was reported to police the next day.

Aung Thowai, 62, is charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, police said. He was slated to appear in court Wednesday.

Officers are concerned there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the sexual assault and child abuse unit.
