Panthers tackle Michael Oher cited for misdemeanor assault of Nashville Uber driver
Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher was accused of assaulting an Uber driver in Nashville and was cited with misdemeanor assault, according to reports from WKRN-TV and WSOC-TV.
The reports indicate that the alleged incident took place on April 14. The Uber driver claims that he and Oher were arguing during a ride into downtown Nashville and that Oher knocked the driver to the ground after the driver put his hand on Oher’s face.
The Panthers issued a statement to WSOC: “We are aware an incident occurred involving Michael. We have no further comment at this time.”
Oher has been with the Panthers since 2015 after spending one season with the Tennessee Titans. He was the subject of the bestseller book, “The Blind Side,” which later was made into a movie.
The Panthers drafted Western Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Moton, who could challenge Oher for the starting right tackle job. Oher was set back by concussions last season, missing the final 13 games of the 2016 season and remaining in the league’ concussion protocol since.
