Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation names new president, board members

The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation has a new president and chief operating officer.

The nonprofit announced Thursday it had promoted Rebecca Godwin to serve in both roles. She will take over for Tim Moran, who co-founded the foundation nearly 20 years ago. He will now serve as vice chairman.

"Transitioning into the role of president is such an honor, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to help lead the Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation into its next chapter of growth and impact," said Godwin, who has been with the foundation for four years and previously served as its executive director and development director.

Rebecca Godwin has been named the new president and COO of the Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation.

"Our mission to support the dedicated men and women who protect and serve our community remains steadfast, and I am committed to advancing our efforts and collaborations with our generous supporters. Together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the community, and in lives of those who dedicate themselves to keeping Palm Beach safe," she said.

Godwin brings experience, institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to the foundation's mission of supporting Palm Beach's first responders and the community, Moran said.

In her new roles, she will continue to supervise the foundation’s daily operations, the management and hiring of staff and donor relations to drive development and fundraising initiatives forward.

She also will continue to be a liaison between the foundation, the Palm Beach Police and Fire Rescue departments and the wider community.

Additionally, she will collaborate with the foundation's board of directors about its strategic direction.

“As we welcome Rebecca Godwin into her new role as President and COO, we are confident in her abilities to lead our organization with integrity, passion, and a deep understanding of our mission," Moran said. "Rebecca’s extensive experience with the foundation has prepared her well for this pivotal position, and we are excited to see her help drive our organization forward. I am proud to continue supporting Rebecca, and the foundation in our collective commitment to serve those who selflessly serve us."

In addition to Godwin's appointment, the foundation also named Janet Levy, David Levinson and Herb Shear to its board of directors.

Levy, a 15-year Palm Beach resident, is co-founder of the Janet and Mark Levy Charitable Foundation.
