You may think you’re a professional beer drinker, but unless you’re getting paid $65K a year to sample brew, then you’re just an amateur.

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History is seeking actual, legit beer tasters and are willing to pay big. The official title is “beer historian/scholar” and the gig is a three-year-long appointment, sponsored by The Brewers Association.

This is a total dream job.

The museum’s curator, Paula Johnson, told The Washington City Paper that they are looking for someone who can:

“Focus and dedicate efforts towards research, documentation, and collecting American brewing history.”

The museum has been collecting historical data about brewing and beer in the late 19th century and early 20th century, but with the recent boom in craft brewing, it’s becoming clear that contemporary research is needed and we’d be prepared to do it…for science.

So what if it's a #latergram?

Johnson said, “We have collected food history for many years, so when we were doing the research for the exhibition, which is all about big changes in the post-WWII era in how and what we eat, one thing we were curious about is the craft beer movement.”

This sweet deal comes with extra perks as well, with samplings of “wine, coffee, cheese, artisanal bread, and farmers markets.”

Shut up and take our application.

With the huge craft beer boom of the last decade, this position is right on time for all of us who take our brew very seriously. Click here for the full job posting.
