With the days numbered before any football action begins, we find ourselves in the NFL’s ranking season.

Pro Football Focus has been busy all summer long ranking everything from top-performers in the league to best position groups.

The Green Bay Packers have found themselves in the number one spot for quarterback situations in the NFL. When you think about it, who else would it be?

Here’s what PFF had to say about giving the Packers the number on spot:

“Things did not go well for Aaron Rodgers in 2015, but he is still the top quarterback in the league at his best, and pretty much everybody at PFF expects him to bounce back in the season to come now that he has his top target back in action (Jordy Nelson), and he can regain the trust he lost in his receivers over the year. In 2014, he was comfortably the best-graded passer in the league and there isn’t any reason he can’t get back to that kind of level. Behind him is Brett Hundley, a talented athlete that many are high on, but a player that did not “wow” in grading terms in his final college season.”

Well, the folks at PFF aren’t wrong about it at all. Rodgers has been consistent in his pursuit of greatness. From the moment he was drafted, many people thought he would be special and Rodgers has always played with a chip on his shoulder to prove all the doubters wrong.

Rodgers’ motivation has led to five Pro Bowls, two Fed-Ex Air Player of the Year Awards, two MVPs and a Super Bowl victory where he also was named MVP. Those accolades should be enough to get Rodgers in the Hall of Fame (some players have gotten in for less) and he’s only 32-years-old.

No doubt, Rodgers is among the game’s best at the highest profile positions, but the ranking was also about backup Brett Hundley. This is Hundley’s second year in the league and he looks to be a solid backup if anything were to happen to Rodgers.

In fact, Hundley’s performance in the OTAs and team’s minicamp practices have solidified him as the team’s solid number two and has earned him high praises from his coaches.

When asked if Hundley could win a games for the Packers if needed, quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt had high praise for Hundley.

“Yes [he could win games],” he said. “Right now. “If we didn’t [believe that], then we’d be a little nervous right now. But I don’t feel that way. I trust Brett to go in there and win. It’s not easy, but I expect him to do it.”

The confidence the coaching staff has in Hundley must be rubbing off on other people. Hundley has yet to play in a regular season game and the Packers are still atop the list of best quarterback situations in the NFL.

With the easiest schedule in the league and one of the best quarterbacks in the league, fans should feel excited about 2016. And if something were to happen to Rodgers, there is no reason to fear because Hundley has the tools to get the job done.
