Pablo Ruiz out for the season with knee injury

SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – The season has come to a premature end once again for Real Salt Lake midfielder Pablo Ruiz.

Ruiz revealed on his Instagram page that he has torn his ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.

Ruiz underwent season-ending knee surgery in August to repair a meniscus tear in his right now, but his comeback lasted all of three games. He recovered for RSL’s 2024 opener, starting two of their three matches this season.

The 25-year-old Argentine’s recovery timeline will be determined after consultation with doctors.

“It hurts me to express myself since for me it is news that affects me emotionally and psychologically again, when everything was going more than fine because I returned to play later of 6 months,” Ruiz wrote on his Instagram account. “I want you to know that this is not the end, I will simply get back up stronger than ever to do what I love most, which is playing soccer.”

In Ruiz’s absence, Braian Ojeda, Nelson Palacio, Emeka Eneli and more will be leaned on in central midfield. The club also has the attack-minded Matt Crooks and Diego Luna.
