Ozark man shoots victim with shotgun over a woman, police say

OZARK, Ala (WDHN) — An Ozark man is behind bars without bond after police say he shot another man with a 12 gauge shotgun over a jealous argument about a woman.

George Hilson is charged with one count of attempted murder.

According to Ozark Police, early Tuesday morning, Hilson was visiting a friend in the 100 block of Pecan Street in Ozark when he and a neighbor of the friend got into an argument over a woman they were both acquainted with.

OPD spokesperson Deputy Chief Micheal Bryan tells WDHN that during the argument, Hilson grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and shot the neighbor twice in the chest with a birdshot.

The man was transported to a Dothan hospital for treatment and was released in good condition only a few hours later.

Deputy Chief Bryan says Hilson and the victim would not say much during the investigation, and the details of their relationship with the woman are unknown.

Hilson was booked into the Dale County Jail on Tuesday and is held without bond.
