Oxford man arrested after shooting at apartment

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One man was taken to a hospital and a suspect arrested after a shooting at an Oxford, Mississippi apartment.

Oxford Police said the shooting happened Monday evening at the Links Apartments.

Police found a man there suffering from gunshot wounds, and they began lifesaving measures while others began searching for a suspect.

Lakerrian Ruffian, 20, of Oxford was found a short time later and taken into custody. Police said they executed a search warrant on his residence and found a “large quantity of narcotics.”

Meanwhile the victim, who was not identified, was taken first to Baptist Hospital North Mississippi and transferred to Regional One in memphis, where he is in critical but stable condition.

Ruffin is charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault and was
given a bond of $250,000 by the Municipal Court Judge, but a hold was placed on
Ruffin by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, police said.
