Oxford American arts magazine chooses new editor
NEW YORK (AP) — A leading Southern arts magazine has picked a replacement for its founding editor, who was fired last summer over allegations of sexual harassment.
The Conway, Ark.-based Oxford American announced Monday author and former Harper's magazine editor Roger D. Hodge will take over for Marc Smirnoff.
Smirnoff started the magazine in 1992 but was fired in July after its board determined he had behaved inappropriately with female interns. He has denied any wrongdoing.
The prize-winning Oxford American is known as The Southern Magazine of Good Writing. It has featured work by everyone from Eudora Welty and James Dickey to Roy Blount Jr. and Jesmyn Ward.
