OVI patrol planned for St. Patrick’s Day

MEDINA, Ohio (WJW) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Medina post and Brunswick police are planning a saturation patrol to catch impaired drivers on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.

Police: Illegal passing caused fatal head-on crash

Authorities plan to focus on Interstate 71, Pearl Road (U.S. Route 42) and Center Road (state Route 303) in Brunswick, according to a news release.

“During this time, motorists should expect to see increased patrol presence in these areas,” reads the release.

There have been 763 crashes involving impaired drivers in Medina County in the past five years, 22 of them fatal, according to state patrol crash statistics. More than 100 of those crashes were reported along I-71 and Pearl Road.
