Motorcyclist killed overnight on I-485: NC State Highway Patrol

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash overnight along I-485, according to the NC State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the accident happened at 2:19 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, on I-485 Inner Loop near mile marker 31. A black 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle ran off the left side of the road while on the I-485 Inner Loop ramp from I-85 North, struck a break-away pole, continued traveling off the road, and collided with a ditch.

Troopers said the motorcycle then overturned and the operator was thrown from the bike.

The identity of the motorcyclist will be released pending family notification.

The crash remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
