Overland Park police seek suspect who shot man, hurt woman in domestic violence incident

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park police are looking for a man they say injured a woman during a domestic disturbance and shot a man who was driving in a parking lot where the dispute took place.

Police say this happened just after midnight Friday near W. 83rd and Mastin. Investigators say a woman was trying to get away from the man when he pulled out a handgun and shot at the driver, striking and wounding him.

The man shot was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The woman was also taken to a hospital to treat injuries she suffered in the domestic violence incident.

A news release says after the shooting, the suspect tried to steal at least one vehicle before leaving in another. Officers from a different city spotted and chased him, but stopped once the suspect crossed the state line into Missouri. The vehicle was eventually found, but there was no sign of the suspect.
