Overheard Trump Lawyers Are ‘Bumbling’ and ‘Stupid,’ Says ‘Morning Joe’ Host Joe Scarborough

Joe Scarborough spent some time during Monday’s “Morning Joe” broadcast to slam Donald Trump’s lawyers — who were overheard by New York Times reporter Ken Vogel over the weekend “loudly discussing” the Russia investigation at a steak house.

“I cannot believe how bumbling and how stupid these guys are,” Scarborough said. “They are the most indiscreet attorneys — I mean it — I ever heard in my life. Sending out emails, angry emails, shouting in popular Washington steakhouses about problems that they have–“

“In front of New York Times reporters,” interjected co-host Mika Brzezinski.

Scarborough, a lawyer in his past life, recalled being told as a clerk to never discuss clients away from the office.

“These clowns are sending e-mails in the middle of the night,” Scarborough continued. “These jackasses! And yelling in open restaurants. The lack of discipline by these Trump attorneys — I’ve said it before: It’s so astounding.”

Over the weekend, the New York Times reported that Ty Cobb, a lawyer on Trump’s team, was overheard at a Washington steakhouse “talking about a White House lawyer he deemed ‘a McGahn spy’ and saying Mr. McGahn had ‘a couple documents locked in a safe’ that he seemed to suggest he wanted access to.”

Donald F. McGahn II is the White House special counsel who “supports cooperation, but has expressed worry about setting a precedent that would weaken the White House long after Mr. Trump’s tenure is over.”

The conversation has led to a rift in the legal team, and, according to The Times, caused Chief of Staff John Kelly to give Cobb a reprimand.
