Over 40 dogs recovered from house in Southern Davidson County

A husband and wife are facing animal cruelty charges after more than 40 dogs were surrendered to Davidson County Animal Control on Monday.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s office, on Jan. 20 they received a call from 283 Cherokee Lane in Southern Davidson County in reference to surrendering a number of animals. The caller stated there was no one from this location able to care for the dogs because their owners, Kristy Presnell, was in jail at the time.

Law enforcement made contact with Presnell’s husband, Joel Fesperman, who stated he was unable to care for the animals because he is a long-haul truck driver. Sheriff’s deputies said he stated that he wished for animal control to take the dogs. Presnell signed over all the dogs to animal control.

On Monday, Jan. 23 Davidson County Animal Control went to the house on Cherokee Lane and recovered 42 dogs.

As a result of the seizure, law enforcement has drawn arrest warrants for Presnell and Fesperman for cruelty to animals due to the “living conditions and health of the animals”, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

There was no information released on who made the initial call to the sheriff’s office. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
