Over $2K worth of jewelry stolen off woman in Queens: NYPD

ELMHURST, Queens (PIX11) — Authorities are searching for a woman accused of stealing jewelry that a 73-year-old woman was wearing while she was distracted in Queens, according to the NYPD.

Police said the suspect got out of a car near Kneeland Avenue and Gorsline Street in Elmhurst around 1 p.m. last Friday, walked over to the victim and started a conversation.

The suspect then placed jewelry on the victim, police said. While the victim was distracted, police said the suspect removed the victim’s necklace and bracelet before leaving the area in the car.

The jewelry stolen from the victim is valued at around $2,250, according to the NYPD.

Police provided video and images of the alleged theft.
