Over $20,000 in tornado relief donated to Cottonwood
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Over $20,000 has been donated to the town of Cottonwood for tornado relief.
This comes after the town did not receive any funding on the federal level after the town was devastated by a tornado in January of this year.
On Tuesday, the Houston County Economic Development Association and The Crossing at Big Creek presented a check for $20,635.42 to help the town that’s still reeling from the deadly tornado.
“Cottonwood is rebuilding itself with the help of people and this is one step towards it,” District 2 Commissioner, Tracy Adams said. “We are getting some help from the state on rebuilding the firehouse and the senior citizens are coming together, but that is not completed by any means. This is the first step and this is an example of good people helping good people.”
Commissioner Adams says this is a big help on their long road to recovery.
