NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Eric Adams joined PIX11 Morning News on Thursday to discuss the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses in New York City and across the U.S.

Adams said that “outside agitators” are attempting to escalate the demonstrations.

“I think peaceful protest is part of the cornerstone of America,” he said. “I think it’s disgusting when you celebrate Hamas, which is a murderous terrorist organization. And I think it’s disgusting when you call for the destruction of any community in the city.”

Adams emphasized that there is no room for hate in the city.

“If colleges call us to take down encampments, we’re going to follow the rules and follow the law… and respond to their calls,” he said. “We can protest without the destructive… terminology, the hateful things that I’ve heard.”
