Update to Ouray rape case

OURAY, Colo. (KREX) — Ashton Whittington, one of the three suspects accused of rape, appeared in person for a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon after last week’s court hearing was postponed because the alleged victim did not show up.

Whittington and two others are accused of drugging and raping the woman at the police chief’s home, in May of last year.

Police Chief Jeff Wood was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Wednesday’s hearing was a closed proceeding. WesternSlopeNow has reached out to the district attorney for more information.
