The unbeaten Sooner softball team played five games over the weekend at the Mary Nutter Classic, and Jocelyn Alo remained one home run short of setting the NCAA career record of 96. Also had hits — which is not a bad thing — but pitchers played it safe throughout the weekend, sometimes intentionally walking the OU slugger. Still, the pressure must be intense for the super senior, who had cell phone cameras focused on home plate every time she batted.

Alo came close once during the tournament, blasting a shot off the top of the wall in right field wall during an 11-3, five-inning win over Long Beach State.

If anything, Alo gets a chance to collect her thoughts and relax a little bit. The top-ranked Sooners' next game is 5 p.m. Monday against Minnesota at Marita Hynes Field in Norman. A sellout crowd is expected for OU's home opener.
