OSHP: Man later dies after flipping vehicle off road in Erie County

PERKINS TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A man succumbed to his injuries following a one-vehicle crash Friday morning in Erie County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a statement.

OSHP was called to the area of West Strub Road in Perkins Township around 6:20 a.m. for reports a vehicle had gone off the side of the road.

The driver of a Ford Explorer was found inside his vehicle with serious injuries and was originally taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, but then moved to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The driver, identified as 66-year-old Ricardo Trevino of Sandusky, later died on Monday, police said in a report.

Troopers reportedly found the vehicle upside-down next to a fire hydrant. Trevino was wearing his seatbelt, troopers reported.

OSHP did not say what led to the crash, but an investigation is ongoing.
