Mannford police officer arrested on rape charges

MANNFORD, Okla. (KFOR) – The Mannford Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with a sexual abuse case on Tuesday.

OSBI says agents completed a comprehensive report and identified the suspect as 42-year-old James Matthew Waltman, who is a Mannford police officer. It was determined that Waltman was also employed by Mannford Public Schools as a school resource officer, according to authorities.

Edmond Schools vs. OSDE hearing postponed

During the investigation, authorities learned that Waltman engaged inappropriately with a student, including providing alcohol to a minor, while employed at the school.

OSBI special agents arrested Waltman on the evening of March 5. Waltman was booked into the Creek County Jail on charges of First-Degree Rape and Providing Alcohol to person Under 21 Years Old.
