New Orleans woman named Small Business Owner of the Year

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Women’s History Month gives us a chance to celebrate women’s achievements worldwide, and we’re also celebrating a local businesswoman who’s just received a big honor.

Iam Christian Tucker is the president and CEO of Integrated Logistical Support Incorporated. According to Tucker, “Outside of my business, of which I’m passionate about, I love getting involved in minority business opportunities, but more so empowerment.”

Tucker is a former police officer, who didn’t have to look very far for inspiration. It rested within her family.

“There’s a gentleman that founded this company, my late father, Bob Tucker. I would say he started this company, and he started my foray and my legacy and my passion, as well. He’s the one that ignited it for equity,” said Tucker.

Just as the late Bob Tucker made strides in business and politics, locally, his daughter carries the legacy forward in that fight. Tucker’s work was recently recognized as the Small Business Owner of the Year by the Small Business Administration.

“I’m proud. I’m proud to be from New Orleans. I’m proud to be from a state that sometimes doesn’t value businesses like mine, but to be able to receive an award like this is incredible,” said Tucker.
