New Orleans police investigate fatal hit-and-run
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after a person was struck by a vehicle and killed early Wednesday, April 24.
Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge traffic backed up following tractor-trailer crash
According to officers, they were alerted of a body found on Interstate 10 East at the Poydras Street Exit at 1:57 a.m.
An investigation revealed the victim was walking in the left lane of traffic when they were struck by an unknown vehicle that allegedly drove away after. NOPD officers say the victim was then struck by multiple vehicles.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.
NOPD officers say the crime is being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run.

The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
