New Orleans Police Department welcomes newest recruit class
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department welcomed a new class of recruits on Monday, March 18.
NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick welcomed Class 201, made up of 22 new people, hoping they have what it takes to be an NOPD officer.

Among the recruits, 18 are from Louisiana, three have a military background and three are bilingual.
Kirkpatrick said joining the force is like being part of the family.
“You’re going to forge friendships. You’re going to have relationships that are as close as a brother or sister. We want you to enjoy that and to embrace that. To know that you are not on a journey all by yourself,” said Kirkpatrick.
According to the NOPD, the new class will train for the next 27 weeks.
