Weaver’s law enforcement career included several roles serving at the old parish prison, leading the Criminal Sheriff’s athletic department, overseeing the juvenile division as warden, commanding the reserve division and ultimately serving as Chief of Security and Chief of Courts and Community Services.

Past and present members of the OPSO force described Weaver as “a true icon and leader within our agency.”

“Whether he was ensuring the safety and security of our facilities, mentoring deputies, or upholding the highest standards of professionalism, Chief Weaver set a shining example for all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” said OPSO officials.

During Weaver’s time in the force, OPSO officials say for decades, he faithfully worked the same detail at Gallier Hall showing devotion to his community and maintaining public safety through changing times and administration.

In 2022, Weaver was awarded a Key to the City by Mayor LaToya Cantrell to commemorate his long service. He was recognized as a mentor as he instilled the importance of never settling and always striving for improvement in his colleagues.

Please join us in honoring his memory and offering our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Chief Weaver.
