New Orleans East gun, drug bust leads to arrest

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man was arrested, and two people were issued summonses after a gun and drug bust in New Orleans East on Sunday, March 31.

The New Orleans Police Department reported officers responded to the intersection of Michoud Boulevard and Expedition Drive after hearing gunshots while patrolling the area.

At the scene, NOPD officers said they saw two cars leaving the area and pulled them over.

According to the NOPD, guns were “in plain view inside the vehicles.” They said a warrant was then obtained to search the cars.

During the search, NOPD officers said they recovered five guns, ammunition and a quantity of marijuana.

NOPD officials said 21-year-old Raheim Bacchus was arrested in connection with the investigation and faces charges of illegally possessing a firearm in connection with possessing illegal drugs, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and illegal possession of narcotics.

According to the NOPD, “Two other suspects were issued New Orleans Municipal summonses for the illegal discharge of firearms.”
