Orlando weather: Drought threat looms with limited rainfall in coming days

ORLANDO, Fla. - Thursday also marks the latest update on the drought monitor, which is released weekly on Thursdays. Recent data shows that the initial stages of drought are now encompassing areas from New Smyrna Beach to Brevard County in our region.

Some of these locations have experienced less than 50% of their average rainfall over the past month.

The weather outlook for the next few days includes primarily clear skies tonight, followed by a mix of clouds and sunshine on Friday. Temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid-80s.

Looking ahead to the weekend, expect breezy conditions with east winds ranging from 10 to 25 miles per hour. There's a slight 10% chance of a sprinkle or shower along the east coast beaches.

We anticipate brighter skies and a warming trend as we head into next week. Temperatures will climb back towards the 90-degree mark by late this week. No significant weather systems or widespread rain are expected for the foreseeable future.
