Orlando weather: 90-degree temps expected this week with rain, storms possible in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. - As May arrives on Wednesday, a noticeable shift in weather patterns is underway. Temperatures are gradually heading toward the 90s by midweek, coinciding with the initial possibility of afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms, characteristic of the impending rainy season.

These precipitation events, instigated by the convergence of Gulf and Atlantic sea breezes, offer a preview of the anticipated weather patterns from late May into early June.

Although not extensive or widespread, a few sporadic sea-breeze showers may materialize on Wednesday afternoon and early evening.

Temperatures will hover in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees for the next several days. A combination of clouds and sunshine is anticipated through Friday, transitioning to mostly sunny conditions over the weekend.

Looking ahead to the following week, a substantial increase in temperatures is anticipated, particularly towards the middle to end of the week leading into Mother’s Day weekend. Inland areas are likely to experience temperatures in the mid-90s.

There are some concerns about a looming drought in Brevard County. The FOX 35 Storm Team will continue to monitor these conditions.

Orlando Hour-by-Hour Forecast

Given the recent dry spell, any rainfall would be quite beneficial for our forests, lawns, and gardens, particularly amidst heightened fire risk.

Looking ahead, next week promises even warmer temperatures as an upper-level high-pressure system settles in, potentially pushing highs into the mid to upper 90s by week's end. Some models suggest triple-digit heat by Thursday May 9th... While reaching extreme temps of 100°+ is not likely, it is an indication of rising confidence that we'll at least be firmed seated in the mid to upper 90s. Get ready! Summer is right around the corner.
