Orlando Health announces plans to build new free-standing emergency room in Eustis

EUSTIS — Orlando Health will be constructing a free-standing emergency room in Eustis at the corner of Dillard Road and U.S. Highway 441 across from Kohl’s department store.

It will “serve the growing healthcare needs of Eustis and surrounding communities,” said Danielle DeJarlais, spokeswoman for Orlando Health.

Plans call for an 11,600-square-foot facility with 10 examination rooms, an imaging suite, laboratory, and ambulance bay. Because the site is a little bigger than 9 acres there is room for future development.

The proposed free-standing emergency room in Eustis will resemble this facility at 11898 Lake Underhill Road in Orlando.

Orlando Health bought the property for $5.2 million from M.D. Expansion Eustis LLC. The property was once the site of a Lowe’s store.

There was no information released about the number of employees needed to staff the facility or when it will be built.

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital in Clermont opened a new patient tower in February that almost doubled the size of the 147-bed hospital.

The ER building will be just down the road from Advent Health Waterman, which has its own emergency room.
