Organizers of Earth Day release video for this year’s event

Earth Day video hits YouTube

On March 22 a new video promoting the annual environmental event Earth Day hit the web.

The video, titled ‘Mobilize The Earth Video,'  was uploaded by organizers Earth Day Network on March 22 and aims to highlight some of the environmental issues that the annual Earth Day on April 22 aims to address.

Earth Day first began in 1970 in the United States and has since spread across the world with events now taking place in 175 countries. Earth Day not only aims to highlight the environmental issues facing our planet today but also to encourage people to take part by pledging to commit an ‘act of green' as part of their ongoing ‘Billion Acts of Green Campaign'.

Held on April 22 Earth Day comes shortly after the WWF-organized Earth Hour which takes place on March 31. Earth Hour aims to raise awareness of climate change by encouraging individuals, businesses and governments to switch off their lights at 8:30 pm local time; famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in France and Sydney Opera House have previously gone ‘dark' for the event.
