Oreo releases new churro flavor; see when they hit grocery store shelves

NEW YORK (PIX11) — What can be better than a cookie? How about a cross between a cookie and a churro?

Oreo is releasing a churro-flavored cookie, the brand announced on Wednesday.

“The beloved dessert features a brand-new fried dough flavored cookie with churro flavor creme and delicious sugar inclusions,” a statement from the company read. “These limited-time treats perfectly capture the mouth-watering dessert in one bite.”

Oreo’s churro cookies are a limited-time sweet fusion that hits the shelves nationwide on March 27.

“Add a little 🔥 spice 🔥 with OREO Churro, on shelves 3/27,” Oreo posted on Instagram.

The Oreo was first created in Manhattan in a Chelsea market in 1912 and went global in 1928.

Churros can be traced back to the Moors, who brought the dish to the Spanish territories. After a slow start, the Spanish adopted the Moorish dish and incorporated their own elements such as additional sugar or chocolate, christening its churros.
