Oregon reaches contract agreement with 3,000 workers represented by AFSCME
SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- The state of Oregon has reached a contract agreement with another employee union.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees says the deal was finalized early Friday. The agreement must be approved by rank-and-file members.
The agreement covers 3,000 workers from 20 state agencies. Bargaining continues for 3,000 AFSCME-represented prison workers.
AFSCME's agreement is similar to one reached a day earlier by the state's largest employee group, the Service Employees International Union.
Workers would get cost-of-living raises in December of this year and next, and a freeze on pay increases tied to experience would be lifted.
There would be no mandatory unpaid days off, and employees would continue to be responsible for 5 percent of their health care premiums.
