Ore. police to probe if Alaska coach hit player

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — The Juneau Police Department says it's turning an investigation of a possible assault by a local football coach on a player to authorities in Oregon, where the incident allegedly occurred last July.

Juneau school officials called police after viewing a video that shows two people engaged in an informal boxing match. The video shows the smaller boxer being punched in the face. He turns away, and while his arms are down, he's punched again on the chin before falling to the ground.

Two coaches at Thunder Mountain High School have been placed on administrative leave.

Juneau police say the Gold Beach, Ore., Police Department has assumed responsibility for the case because the events took place in their jurisdiction.
