Orange touts Pocket Landline for SMEs

Orange has launched a service called Pocket Landline designed to offer SMEs more contact options for their customers by providing a landline number that automatically directs to a mobile phone.

The operator explained that many businesses wish to use landline numbers as a point of contact to appear established or to show their locality, but do not want to lose the accessibility that a mobile number offers.

Orange Pocket Landline allows companies to set up a single landline-to-mobile connection for £15 per month, 10 landline numbers to one mobile phone for £15 per landline per month, or a single landline number that can connect to five or 10 mobile devices for £20 and £30 per month respectively.

Martin Lyne, SME marketing director at parent company Everything Everywhere, claimed that having a fixed-line number will help enhance firms' reputation.

"With Pocket Landline, businesses will never have to miss another call from customers just because they're on the move," he said.

"The fixed number could help increase credibility and local presence, while the easily scalable packages mean that your Pocket Landline service can expand with the business."

The system also provides the ability to set up a voicemail system that emails messages to the mobile device as an MP3 file, while managing the Pocket Landline tool is run through a web-based portal that is free to use.

Customers dialling the landline number will be charged only for the cost of a local landline call.
