Orange County man charged with murder after fatal shooting; victim identified
An Orange County man has been charged with second-degree murder in a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to Ferguson Road just before 2 p.m. after a caller, later identified as Darron Downey, 54, reported that he had shot a man during a fight.
The man who was shot, 59-year-old Lee André Foster, died from a single gunshot to the back of the head, according to a news release.
Downey and Foster knew each other.
Downey is being held without bail until his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Second-degree murder is different from first-degree murder in that it is not a premeditated act, among other factors.
Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call Investigator Nazworth at 919-245-2960.
