BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Friday is set up day at the Festival of Arts; the golden anniversary is this weekend. Gates will open on Saturday at 10 a.m.

“This is a sun catcher it is made out of driftwood and hand-cut stained glass,” Elberta artist Leeann Jones said.

By the time set up is finished almost every nook and cranny of Waterfront Park will be filled with paintings, pottery and just about anything else you could ever hope to find.

“It’s one-on-one,” returning artist from Tennessee Tracey Rogers said. “You get personal attention with every artist, and so it is just a real fun place to come and experience all different types of medium.”

Although windy on Friday, the bad weather has held off for the most part.

“It looks like the worst of it will go north of us,” artist Larry Rogers said. “May get a little wind and rain, and so we are okay with that.”

MOBILE 2023 CRIME REPORT: Violent crimes down, robberies up

The threat of severe weather forced BBQ and Blues to push back the start of their weekend festival in Foley. But Friday, Heritage Park was already starting to fill up with cook teams and their RVs.

Festivals in Baldwin County may have a soggy start, but that’s not stopping anything maybe just delaying it a bit.
