The project started at the beginning of Highway 161 near the beginning of Doc’s Seafood to Wilson Boulevard, just before Hudson Marina.

The project included widening the road to three lanes for a proper turn lane, a roundabout in front of the Orange Beach Public Library and a longer biking and walking path. The spacing on the sidewalk now stretches to 10 feet.

City officials also announced that a similar 10-foot sidewalk expansion project from Wilson Boulevard to Bear Point, totaling just over two miles, will begin at the end of the year.
