Oprah Winfrey had last minute outfit change to avoid wedding faux pas
Oprah Winfrey narrowly avoided a fashion faux pas at the wedding by arranging a last-minute change of outfit.
Gayle King, one of the talk show host’s close friends, told CBS Saturday morning, that she had a “little bit of a wedding emergency” on the eve of the ceremony.
Winfrey had opted for a cream outfit but discovered to her horror that it appeared white – the colour reserved for the bride.
According to Ms King, Winfrey contacted Stella McCartney who “whipped together” a pink alternative.
The designer herself described the ensemble as a “blush, double tiered dress with lace trim made of sustainable viscose.”
McCartney’s design had a tiered bottom and lace scalloping at the top.
Philip Treacy, a London milliner who has designed hats for celebrities for more than a quarter of a century, provided a characteristic wide-brimmed floral creation to complete the look.
Winfrey completed the look with a pair of pink stilettos and a small pink clutch bag.
She was among the first guests to arrive at Windsor, along with the British actor Idris Elba, who attended with his fiancée, Sabrina Dhowre.
