Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King give advice for holiday drama in this new video from The OG Chronicles, and it’s seriously a godsend. From dodging in-laws to talking politics at the table, it’s all the wisdom you never knew you needed to make it to the new year.

This episode of The OG Chronicles on of OprahMag shows these two reading letters from viewers describing their holiday dilemmas, and then giving them advice on how best to handle it. The first letter is from someone fighting with her fiancé about which family to spend Christmas with, while the second is from someone who has a generous gift-giving boss and wants to know how best to reciprocate.

The funniest part of the video might be when Oprah and Gayle firmly disagree. One of the letter writers’ husband is always proud of the gifts he gives her — but they’re routinely terrible, and she doesn’t know how to break it to him.

“That’s hard because the husband is probably very proud of what he’s done…I don’t know, I don’t want to break his heart either,” Gayle starts off. “I think you just accept it with grace.”

Oprah can barely let her finish: “No, I don’t think you have to do that,” she says, shaking her head. “You say, ‘Honey, I think we’ve reached a point where we have everything we need and we really don’t have to exchange gifts anymore.'”

Gayle bursts out laughing as Oprah adds, “That’s what we did in our house…I had the same issue.” We’re shocked that someone could manage to give Oprah a bad gift: After all, the woman regularly posts lists of her favorite things, dammit! But we’re not at all surprised that Oprah isn’t one to take a bad gift lying down — and that she’d rather get no gifts at all than one she doesn’t love.
