Open Streets ICT coming in April, volunteers and vendors sought

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The first Open Streets ICT of 2024 is coming in April.

On April 14, the Open Street ICT – WSU & Shocker Neighborhood will be held from 12-4 p.m.

Just south of Wichita State University, 17th Street North will shut down between Volutsia and Oliver. Vendors and food trucks will be set up along 17th Street with activity hubs located along the route with games and activities for children and families.

By shutting down the street to cars and trucks, Open Streets ICT hopes to encourage Wichitans to engage with their neighbors and their community by creating a temporary public space to enjoy.

Two more Open Streets are planned: One for the Nomar near 21st and Broadway for Cinco de Mayo and the other tentatively scheduled for autumn along Douglas.
