You only have until Tuesday to vote in WA’s primary. Here’s help from the TNT Ed Board

It’s time to vote, Pierce County. The primary election is upon us, with ballots due by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Below you will find The News Tribune Editorial Board’s slate of primary endorsements. They were reached by consensus after conducting group interviews with candidates in each race over the last several months. Independent research also informed our choices, as well as years of experience closely following local and state issues.

There are some local races we haven’t issued an endorsement in yet. Historically, during the primary we focus on contests with more than two candidates — since the top two finishers in each race will advance to the general election in November. Due to time constraints, this year there were also a handful of races — including Pierce County Auditor, two state House seats in Tacoma’s District 27 and the U.S. House of Representatives races in Congressional District 6 and 10 — that we have yet to weigh in. Expect those endorsements in the coming months.

Finally, our endorsements are offered exclusively to subscribers. The News Tribune Editorial Board produces them as a service to readers, and subscriptions make that work possible.
