Cincinnati Reds infielder Jonathan India was named the National League's top rookie, and it was almost unanimous.
India received 29 of 30 first-place votes to earn the NL Rookie of the Year Award on Monday night, becoming the first Reds' player to do so since Scott Williamson in 1999.
The only first-place vote for Miami Marlins pitcher Trevor Rogers - who finished a distant second in voting - came from one of the two members of the Cincinnati chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America: FanGraphs' Dan Szymborski.
Reactions: India named NL's top rookie
From Szymborski via Twitter:
The vitriol means nothing to me. Comes with the job. If I whine about mean people, you should rightfully play the world's tiniest violin for my "suffering."
I pondered my vote, as I always do, for the entire final weekend of the season. I'm happy with it. I'll sleep like a baby.— Dan Szymborski (@DSzymborski) November 16, 2021
Uh oh, the cheese stands alone.

Like they were going to have Johnny Bench announce the award and it NOT be a Red!

I *did* prepare for this when preparing my Rookie of the Year ballot (on @FanGraphs tomorrow morning) on Wordpress. pic.twitter.com/80xpCeyRkX
